THE DETAILS:

Ventura Aquatic Center is more than your typical community pool. The aquatic center has a large pool used for lap swims as well as a large recreation pool, a separate splash pad/ playground area with shallow water for little swimmers and 2 large water slides! Their season runs from early summer through labor day with open swim times 7 days a week. There are open swim times available on the weekend other times of the year. HOT TIPS:

When swim lesson time slots are released they fill up almost immediately. You have to know in advanced what day and time the registration opens, have your account made and be ready to enroll immediately to get a spot.

Open swim tickets do sell out. I recommend purchasing in advanced.

During open swim times the lifeguards call for a safety check once an hour and the pools all have to be cleared out for 5 minutes. Keep towels nearby. It usually gets chilly during these checks! Makes for a good snack break when you have little ones in tow.
